Let's talk about the value of art. Last week a famous work of art by the graffiti artist Banksy was sold at auction for £1m and self destructed moments later. Some art critics were delighted and commented that the work, despite being shredded, had immediately doubled in value.

Banksy's action is perhaps a celebration of the Dada movement that considered the destruction of art a work of art in itself, however despite the protest element, the art world has the ability to even turn protest against itself into profit.
