LET'S TALK, jueves 22 a las 16.30 horas, Seminario o viernes 23 a las 19 horas, Fondo Local

The use of anglicisms in Spain is regularly abused and commonly misinterpreted due to misunderstanding of the root meaning of the original term along with a twisted sense of humour.
For example, "footing", doesn't mean to go running in English but it is used as a substitute for the incomprehensible, "jogging". "Black Friday", is cynically extended to span a whole week of frenzied bargain hunting in the run up to Christmas while "Santa Claus", displaces the three kings day (known as the three wise men in English).
Do you feel that the use of English terms enrich Spanish language and culture?

Come along to your public library for a fun chat in English on Thursday at 4.30pm or Friday at 7.00pm. (Native English speakers free of charge) For more information please ask at the information desk.
