There is a growing concern that the Spanish legal system is not fit for purpose. The open conflict between those whose job it is to uphold the law and the politicians is certainly not helping to create an environment of respect for the law. Apart from the political use and abuse of the system to oppress freedom of speech and peaceful political protest, laws such as the, "ley mordaza", should never have reached the statute book and as such show a systematic institutional failure of the checks that should hold the political system to account. A recent rape case sentence has provoked massive street protests while the term terrorism has been downgraded to be thrown at any drunken Saturday night brawl. Do you feel protected by the law and that it is serving it's function?
