LET'S TALK, jueves 18 de mayo a las 16.30 h. o viernes 19 a las 19.30 h., Seminario

For the penultimate session of this season let's talk about how foreign culture and art has been incorporated into our everyday lives and the repercussions on our culture of the growing acceptance of these elements.
Fashion is regularly influenced by adopting everything from religious practices and dress codes from other cultures. Examples of this are Rastafarian dreadlocks and the adaptation of the hijab dress code. Tattoos, once the preserve of pacific islanders then later adapted by sailors and criminals are now the fashion statement of the day.
Oriental martial arts are today disciplines taught to children and adults alike while yoga and various forms of meditation are commonplace in modern society.
Do you think these practices enrich our society or are an insult to the original purpose of foreign cults?
Come along to your public library for a fun chat on Thursday at 4.30pm or Friday at 7.30pm. Everyone welcome, (native English speakers free of charge) please ask at the information desk for further details.
