Space travel stimulates our imagination and furthers our knowledge of the universe we inhabit. Would you take a one way ticket to Mars. Perhaps the opportunity cost of this adventure could be to eliminate poverty and suffering on Earth or even fund research to cure devastating diseases. So where will the astronauts pay their taxes? Is there a point in investigating how to survive on a hostile planet when we are hell bent on making our very own Garden of Eden uninhabitable? Perhaps we should leave the little green bug eyed monsters alone and continue to believe that the moon is made of blue cheese!
