Let's talk about the power of words. In recent events, Vladamir Putin, president of Russia, signed a decree banning swearing.

Writers, film makers and eminent academics have all responded with dismay and criticism of the move. Is there a need for such flagrant censorship? Have the lines between formal and informal use of language become so blurred that draconian attitudes are relevant?
