LET'S TALK, 2nd Thursday & 3rd Friday of May

Let's talk about journalism. Whether you follow the BBC or Al-Jazeera you might find it difficult to believe what you read, see or hear. The press barons (like Rupert Murdoch) block efforts to regulate the industry. True investigative journalism is pursued and impeded by powerful forces while many reports appear to be mere extensions of government spokespersons news releases. Vocabulary is measured and manipulated to the extent that an "unprecedented attack" on personal finances becomes a "temporary tax measure" to balance the books. Come along to your local library for a chat in English on Thursday at 4.30pm or Friday at 7pm. Everybody welcome (native english speakers free of charge) for further details please ask at the information desk.
