With spring nearly here and trees bursting into blossom, let's talk
about forestry. What role do trees play in our society? The farmer's
unions claim that the countryside has been abandoned by the public
institutions and every year huge areas are lost to fire. While the
world criticises the destruction of the Amazonian rainforest, are we
doing enough here to create employment in the sector and offset
